Getting a new phone is exciting, but what happens to the old one?
Many people sell, recycle, or give away their old devices without completely removing their personal data. Even after a factory reset, important information may still be recoverable if the device is not properly erased.
Old phones can contain emails, photos, saved passwords, banking apps, and personal documents. In the wrong hands, that information can be used for identity theft, financial fraud, or unauthorized access to your online accounts.
Before you part with your old phone, make sure your data is securely erased, remove the device from your online accounts, and sign out of all apps.
